I’m back from London after a great marketing meeting and two terrible train journeys!
On the way down yesterday, I was happily tapping away on my laptop when the train rolled into York – and stayed there. To be honest, I didn’t realise quite how long we’d been sitting there as I was engrossed in writing a battle scene for SS5. It was only when the announcement was made that there was a problem with the train and that it would be going no further that I knew something was wrong.
So, off we all get at York – a train full of passengers, and wait for the next London train – also full of passengers. As a result, I spent the rest of the journey sitting on the floor near one of the doors. No chance of getting any work done there!
The journey back today was a little better. Things started comically when, as I sat at a table with three other strangers I got out my laptop (a white Macbook) to do some work. Almost immediately, two of the other people at the table (who didn’t know each other) both got out their own white Macbooks. We looked like some sort of weird Apple-loving cult, all tapping away on identical computers!
Trouble, however, came as soon as the train arrived in York (yes, York again!) It turned out that the lovely train company had only reserved my seat as far as that station, and not all the way to Newcastle. Somebody else had it booked from York onwards. So, it was back to sitting in the doorway for me.
Still, I’m home now, and still very excited after a wonderful marketing meeting. There are some fantastic publicity ideas for Scream Street happening. I’ll be able to tell you more soon…
Tommy
