Voting has now closed in the Gateshead Children’s Book Award in which one of my Too Ghoul For School titles – Terror In Cubicle Four – is nominated.

My good pal and fellow author, Barry Hutchison, emailed me yesterday. Nothing unusual in that; we swap emails on a variety of subjects every day. But then, I opened the image he had attached…

Barry had taken a screenshot of his website stats page, showing the phrases his visitors had typed into search engines in order to find his home on the web. Now, Barry writes on a number of topics, so there’s everything from ‘Skeletor’ to ‘commas’ listed. But then, second from bottom on the list, is a rather disturbing phrase:

’spanking Tommy Donbavand’

Yes, someone has typed ’spanking Tommy Donbavand’ into Google. Barry’s site came up in the results as he’d mentioned me in the same page as referring to his ’spanking new glasses’. Fair enough – but it still doesn’t excuse the fact that someone was interested in finding a site that featured ’spanking Tommy Donbavand’. Click on the image and see for yourself.

I’ll be in hiding until this blows over…
