Thanks to everyone – staff and pupils alike – at Sunderland High School Juniors for a fantastic day today. I was honoured to open the new school library…
Then ran three creative writing workshops and finished off the day by signing lots and lots of Scream Street books! You can see just some of the queue here…
I look forward to going back there some time in the future!

Inspired by Luke, Resus and Cleo in the Scream Street books, I have been battling monsters on a quest to collect relics, and here they are…
In no particular order: a vampire’s fang, a vial of witch’s blood, the heart of a mummy, flesh from a zombie, the skull of a skeleton and a werewolf’s claw.
I shall be taking these relics around to my school and bookshop events – so you may get to see them in person someday!

More top children’s authors have read and enjoyed Fang of the Vampire – the first book in the Scream Street series. Here’s what they had to say:
“Exactly the sort of grisly, gross and hilarious stuff that kids will love!”
Eoin Colfer
“Scream Street would make a cracking addition to any young blood-curdlers’ bookshelf. Great stuff!”
Alan Gibbons
“A great concept, brilliantly executed. Sharp as a vampire’s fang and quick as a bat out of hell.”
Joe Craig
“A great read with some great characters. ‘Fang of the Vampire’ sets up what promises to be a fantastic series!”
David Melling
“Gags, gore, guffing goblins – Scream Street’s got the lot. Grab onto your gizzard, you’re in for a wild ride.”
Sam Enthoven
“Lightning-paced, blood-curdling fun. I wish I’d been able to visit Scream Street as a kid!”
Darren Shan
Many thanks to everyone listed above! I have more authors reading the book as we speak, and I’ll report back as soon as they get in touch!

Yes, after two years’ hard work by everyone involved – the first four books in the Scream Street series are published today! To celebrate, I’ve made a little movie which you can see here.
I hope you enjoy reading the books as much as I’ve enjoyed writing them!

I spotted Scream Street for sale at Borders today, and I found myself in good company…
Here I’m on a table with Darren Shan and JK Rowling…
And here I’m next to Julia Donaldson, with both of us being sandwiched between Roald Dahl and Anne Fine.
Made me smile!
