Boldon Primary School

I had a great day at Boldon Primary School today – running creative writing workshops, causing chaos with my Scream Street activities and spending the entire afternoon doing drama with pupils from years 4, 5 and 6.

From what I understand, the school will shortly find out whether it is to remain open or have to close.  It’s been a long time since I spent time at a school with such a positive attitude – so my fingers are crossed it will be there for a long time to come.

Clear And Present Danger

For all Scream Street fans in the UK, there’s a chance to win a set of SS books in the latest edition of Jetix magazine – plus you can read the latest, exclusive Scream Street short story, Clear And Present Danger…

Liver Lad

That’s ‘Liver’ rhyming with ‘Fiver’ in the title, and not the rubbery internal organ…

I’ve spent a fantastic couple of days in Liverpool at the Shipping Lines Literary Festival, part of the city’s celebration as European Capital of Culture, 2008.  I got to run some fang-tastic creative writing workshops at the refurbished Bluecoat centre, cause chaos (or is that survive chaos?) at the central library, and spend time with the brilliant author, Mal Peet, and his wife.

Even better, I bumped into a fourth-cousin of mine at one of the workshops (hello Liam!) and Thomas drew me this utterly incredible picture:

Special thanks to Jo from Walker Books for organising everything, acting as my minder and not being too grossed out by my collection of relics!

Holding Out For A Hero

I’m delighted, honoured and slightly speechless today (something of a first…)

Not only has RIF (Reading Is Fundamental, part of the National Literacy Trust) asked me to become RIF Ambassador to North Ormesby Primary School, but the school itself has name a trophy after me for it’s forthcoming prize day: The Tommy Donbavand Writing Hero Award.

If you catch me on the webcam today, chances are I’ll be blushing!

200th Post!

Yes, this is my 200th post on this blog (I started last November, so that’s not bad work for a year!)

To celebrate, I’m proud to reveal the covers for the forthcoming Scream Street books:

Scream Street 5: Skull of the Skeleton…

and Scream Street 6: Claw of the Werewolf…

They’ll be published on 4th May 2009, and are available to pre-order at amazon here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Scream-Street-Skeleton-Tommy-Donbavand/dp/1406314285/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1225705973&sr=1-11

See you at 400 posts…
