I live in the remote Highlands of Scotland and getting to schools can mean hours of travelling in each direction. If I could do my events over Skype it'd be much, much easier for me to 'appear' at schools in other areas. Plus I like the idea of my big, curmudgeony face being projected onto a large screen. We have had enormous fun skyping sessions on Creative writing with Tommy. The camera only stuttered once or twice, but otherwise it was like having him in the room with us. The pupils were really engaged and excited. We have had to work out some things 'on the fly' with Tommy, but overall it has been an exciting experience, and I hope that it opens up lots of new doors for having a 'visit' from your favourite author, wherever you live in the world!
