There was an announcement about my forthcoming series, Fangs: Vampire Spy, in the publishing industry magazine – The Bookseller – today…

Fangs Enigma

Walker has acquired two new commercial fiction series, comedy horror adventure series Fangs: Vampire Spy by Tommy Donbavand and magical series Stargirl Academy by Vivian French.

Walker bought world rights for all language rights, excluding North America, in Fangs, from Penny Holroyde at the Caroline Sheldon Agency; world rights for all languages for Stargirl Academy, were bought from Lindsay Fraser at Fraser Ross Associates. The first Vampire Spy titles, Operation: Golden Bum and Codename: The Tickler come in September, with two more in October and November. The first six Stargirl Academy titles will be released in July, with one more planned for Christmas.

Publishing director Gill Evans said the new series was part of an ongoing strategy by Walker to develop its publishing across the whole market, and to create series as one way to give an “umbrella” to keep younger readers interested.

While publishing commercial series is not new for Walker, Evans said the publisher had realised launching two new series a year was the “optimum” number. Evans said: “In terms of the overall shape of our publishing programme, there is an internal logic to it.”
