It’s not often I find myself back on my home turf, or acting as a patron to a brand new literary festival – but this week, I’ve got to do both.

I’ve been taking part in the YKids Bootle Children’s Literary Festival.  The brain-child of top author and founder of Campaign For The Book, Alan Gibbons, I was incredibly proud to be asked to stand as a patron for the festival, and to work alongside some of the most exciting children’s authors in the country – including The Two Steves, Fiona Dunbar, Dan Freedman, Bali Rai, Tom Palmer, and poet extraordinaire Levi Tafari.

I spent two wonderful days visiting schools very near to where I grew up, where I unleashed my own particular book-based chaos.

Here’s to next year!
