I’m going to be at the Mountains to Sea Book Festival in Dún Laoghaire next month and, as part of the fun, you can now book a place at the Monster Mountains to Sea Author Lunch.  A barrel full of top children’s authors will be present (and me as well!), each hosting a table for young readers and book fans!  Plus, as if fighting us for the last cheese sandwich wasn’t enough, you can hear us all talk about our favourite novels, get copies of your favourite books signed, ask us burning questions, and much, much more!

The authors hosting tables will include: Sarah Webb, Niamh Sharkey, P J Lynch, Gordon Snell, Mary Murphy, Tommy Donbavand, Judi Curtin, Joe O’Brien, Don Conroy, Marita Conlon McKenna, Sarah Rees Brennan, Claire Hennessy, Oisin McGann – and perhaps more!

It’s a shame I couldn’t hang around to catch up with top Hero.com author, Andy Briggs – but I was able to watch his interview online afterwards…

Being a technology college, you would expect to see some high-tech wizardry going on – but I was absolutely stunned at the quality of the video the media team produced to promote the week (even if they did spell my name wrong!)

As you can see – quite a week was planned!  My workshops began by taking year 8 through the process of making book trailers…

…followed by two Vampires vs Werewolves Gameshows – one for local primary school children, and a second for Cubs, Brownies and Beavers…

We started with a visit to Linaker Primary School in Southport where I created some creepy chaos with my Vampires vs Werewolves Game Show before signing books for an hour.

Then it was a dash back to Formby to meet up with Astrosaurs and Cows in Action author, Steve Cole for his event…

…followed by an open-air signing back at the shop…

…where we were joined by my pal and future Scream Street character, Spider, and his utterly brilliant skateboard…

and Mortlock author, Jon Mayhew.

What a day – and I’m back at Pritchard’s again next Thursday!

As you can see, they kept us pretty busy – although I did get to sit in on one of Steve’s events to hear all about how he writes his utterly brilliant books.  I also met Knife & Packer, the fabulous author and illustrator of the gruesome and giggly Fleabag Monkeyface series.

If you’d like to see Steve and I together in the same place at the same time again – why not pop along to Pritchard’s Bookshop in Formby on 2nd July, where we’ll be signing copies of our books for, well, anyone who pops in!  I’ve heard rumours that top Mortlock author, Jon Mayhew, may also make an appearance!

The pupils and I have been in touch for a couple of months, on the look-out for a rogue werewolf in their area.  With the help of shapeshifter, Zeal Chillchase, the Junior Trackers have built models, written stories, devised card games and even made a film to try and convince the werewolf that it was near to scream Street and lure it in to be captured!

We ended our visit with a performance my Vampires vs Werewolves Game Show at the Brighton Dome!
